A deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station left eight people dead and 24 injured on Monday evening, prompting authorities to declare a citywide high alert. The blast, which occurred close to Gate Number 1, caused a fire that engulfed several nearby vehicles and sent shockwaves across the area.
According to officials from the Delhi Fire Department, the explosion was reported around 7:10 PM, following which seven fire tenders were dispatched. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within minutes, but the damage had already claimed multiple lives.

The blast site, located near one of Delhi’s busiest commuter hubs, was quickly cordoned off by Delhi Police and forensic teams. Authorities have yet to determine whether the explosion was accidental or intentional, though early reports suggest a possible car bomb detonation.
