X Original Content Rewards: What If You Miss 500K Impressions?
X Original Content Rewards replaces X Creator Revenue Sharing after Sept 7
Quick Summary
Sept. 8, 2026, is not a permanent deadline. X will begin rolling out application access to existing Revenue Sharing members on that date.
Creators already enrolled in the old program can earn through Sept. 7. Final payouts are scheduled for Aug. 14, Aug. 28, and around Sept. 11.
Applicants need 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the previous 90 days and at least 500 verified followers. Reply impressions are excluded.
A creator with 16,000 eligible impressions needs 484,000 more. Monetization may pause until the account qualifies, applies, and receives approval.
Enrollment is not automatic. Eligible creators must submit an application through Creator Studio.
X Original Content Rewards will not permanently disqualify a creator who misses 500,000 impressions by Sept. 8. The creator simply cannot apply at that point, and earnings may pause after the old program ends until the account meets every requirement and receives approval. X measures the impression requirement over the previous 90 days at the time of application.
X is ending Revenue Sharing on September 7.

But the new payout rule most creators are missing is this: reply views won’t count toward the 500K requirement.

What happens if you miss 500K impressions by Sept. 8?
| Date or account status | What changes for the creator |
|---|---|
| Through Sept. 7, 2026 | Existing members continue earning under Creator Revenue Sharing |
| Starting Sept. 8 | X begins rolling out application access to existing members |
| Requirements not met | The creator cannot submit an application or begin earning under the new program |
| Requirements met | The creator can apply through Creator Studio once access is available |
| Application approved | Earnings can begin under the qualified-impression rules |
A Creator Studio balance of 16,000 eligible impressions leaves a gap of 484,000. X’s policy does not describe Sept. 8 as a final cutoff. It says creators can apply once they meet all eligibility requirements.
When does X Creator Revenue Sharing end?
Old program will retire on Sept. 7, 2026. According to X’s Creator Revenue Sharing Help page, new enrollments closed Aug. 7, while existing participants can continue earning through Sept. 7.
X lists three final payouts for current members:
Aug. 14 under the regular payout schedule
Aug. 28 under the regular payout schedule
A closing payout for earnings through Sept. 7, expected around Sept. 11
Sept. 11 is an estimate. Check your dashboard for the final status and amount.
Will current creators move to the new program automatically?
No. Existing members must meet the new rules and submit an application in Creator Studio. Creators who have already completed identity verification and connected a valid payout method will not need to repeat those steps after approval.
How does the 500,000-impression requirement work?
At the time of application, X requires at least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users during the previous 90 days. Impressions on replies do not count toward this threshold.
New impressions enter the 90-day window each day, while older impressions fall out. The target does not have to be reached specifically by Sept. 8.
Where can creators check their exact eligibility progress?
Go to Creator Studio → Original Content Rewards. X directs creators to this dashboard to check their eligibility status.
Public Analytics may show a different total. Use the Creator Studio figure to assess eligibility.
What is the difference between verified and qualified impressions?
Verified impressions determine whether a creator can apply. Qualified impressions determine payouts after approval. Treating them as the same metric can lead to inaccurate eligibility and earnings estimates.
| Metric | Purpose | Official rule |
| Verified Home Timeline impressions | Application eligibility | At least 500,000 from verified users in the previous 90 days; replies excluded |
| Qualified impressions | Payout calculation | Unique Home Timeline impressions from Premium users when at least 50% of the post is visible |
X’s program policy defines a qualified impression as a unique Home Timeline impression from a Premium Basic, Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business subscriber when at least half of the post is visible.
Following impressions do not qualify for payouts:
Repeated impressions from the same account on the same post
Paid or promoted impressions
Artificially generated views
Fraudulent impressions
X does not publish a fixed dollar value for each qualified impression. Public view counts therefore cannot produce a reliable payout estimate.
What are the full eligibility requirements?
Creators must meet every condition when they apply. X’s current Help Center guidance lists the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
Live in a supported country
Maintain an account in good standing without a record of repeated policy violations
Use a Personal or Business Account
Not represent a political or government organization
Hold an active Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business subscription
Have at least 500 verified followers
Record at least 500,000 verified-user Home Timeline impressions in the previous 90 days
Actively publish original content
Meeting the numbers does not guarantee acceptance. X gives a three-business-day review target. A rejected applicant gets one appeal, then may reapply after 90 days if still eligible.
An account with monetization paused over an earlier policy violation cannot enroll at this time. The program terms also give X the right to reject applications and change program rules.
What changes for creators in the United States and Europe?
Eligibility threshold is the same. Under the official terms, US disputes follow Texas law and the program’s arbitration provisions. EU, EFTA, and UK disputes follow Irish law. This does not change the 500,000-impression rule.
What does X consider original content?
Original content is not limited to a video you filmed yourself. X describes it as material a creator personally wrote, filmed, designed, or produced that reflects the creator’s voice, perspective, expertise, or creativity.
Qualifying formats can include:
Original posts, threads, Articles, and analysis
Firsthand reporting, photography, and video
Original memes, illustrations, and graphics
Meaningful commentary on news, culture, or trends
Reaction content can qualify when it adds real context, knowledge, humor, reporting, or analysis. Copied uploads, minor edits, simple overlays, and compilations without a substantial new perspective do not. Copyright permission remains a separate requirement.
How do creators apply, and how long does review take?
Once every requirement is met:
Open Creator Studio.
Select Original Content Rewards and review the eligibility status.
Check the connected payout details and submit the application.
Wait for X’s decision. The company gives a review target of three business days.
Approved creators are paid every two weeks when earnings reach the $30 minimum. X has not confirmed one universal first-payout date for every creator joining during the transition, so Sept. 25 should not be treated as a guaranteed payment date.
Payouts require a Stripe account or, for eligible users, an X Money Account, plus identity verification.
What could remove a creator from the program?
X’s Creator Monetization Standards and the program policy prohibit conduct that manipulates engagement, payouts, or platform systems. Creators should avoid:
Using bots or automated tools to inflate likes, follows, views, comments, or shares
Tampering with the payout or recommendation systems
Repeatedly asking users to like, reply, bookmark, follow, or repost
Monetizing copied, misleading, or rights-violating material
Fraudulent activity or false statements connected to the program
X can remove an account temporarily or permanently. Replies may build community, but their impressions do not count toward the entry threshold.
What is the bottom line?
Sept. 8 is the start of an application rollout, not a final chance to qualify. A creator who has not reached 500,000 verified Home Timeline impressions may face a temporary monetization gap, but not permanent disqualification.
Check Creator Studio, publish standalone original work, and avoid artificial engagement. Once every requirement is met and application access is available, the account can apply for X Original Content Rewards.
FAQs
What happens if I do not reach 500K impressions on X by Sept. 8?
You cannot apply at that point, and earnings may pause after Sept. 7. You are not permanently disqualified. You can apply later once every requirement is met and access is available.
Do reply impressions count toward the 500K requirement?
No. X explicitly excludes reply impressions from the application threshold. The required total consists of eligible Home Timeline impressions from verified users during the previous 90 days.
Why is my Creator Studio impression count lower than Analytics?
Public Analytics may include views outside the narrower eligibility metric. For applications, use the figure under Creator Studio → Original Content Rewards.
What can I do if X rejects my application?
You can submit one appeal. If that appeal is unsuccessful, you may reapply after 90 days, provided the account still meets every eligibility requirement at that time.
How often will X issue Original Content Rewards payouts?
X says payouts are processed every two weeks and carry a $30 minimum threshold. The exact payment date can vary based on approval timing, account status, and payout setup
